Confused About Shopping Cart Software? Don't Be

Are you looking for shopping cart software? Type that term in your favorite hunt engine, and you'll find at least three million pages touching on the subject. So I wouldn't be surprised if you find in a daunting task to research which software program or option to choose.

No interrogate about it, having a dedicated digital shopping cart installed on your website can have a huge impact on your sales, and even your marketing. The eCommerce software you opt will affect the way you conduct your products, how you create sales reports, how you shop to your customers and even the contact your clients have when they buy your products.

Server

One thing you need to know before you even begin to look for your online shopping cart software is what cost gateway you will use. Not all software programs are compatible with all cost gateways, so knowing this up front can rule a few out and save you some time.

The cost gateway is the processor of your customers' payments. For example, you could use PayPal as a gateway or you could have your own merchant inventory as the gateway. Regardless, you need one in order to accept credit card payments. And today, accepting credit card payments can make the separate between development the sale or not.

Your next consideration is budget. How much can you reasonably afford to spend on e-commerce software? Do you want to host the software on your server (paying a one-time licensing fee) or do you want to go with a hosted "software as a service" option (paying a monthly maintenance fee)? You need to be realistic and understand how your investment can create the most profit in the long term.

Sometimes, paying a vendor a monthly fee to conduct your software for you is the best route, because your enterprise model requires the features offered by this type of digital shopping cart. Other enterprise models require the more flexible and customizable options available though licensing software you host on your own server.

You'll need to collate the pros and cons of each option and see which suits your business' needs more.

Also, take a look at the vendor's track record. How is their customer service? Do they update the software with new features regularly? Will you have passage to these upgrades? If you run into difficulties ... And you will at some point ... Does the vendor offer technical support?

Make a list of features you want your eCommerce solution to have and divide it into "must haves" and "nice to haves." This list will help you rule out vendor options that don't meet your basic criteria.

I hope the information I've in case, granted in this article has cleared up some of your confusion. If you corollary my advice, you should have a clear set of criteria on which to evaluate all the shopping cart options available to you.

Protect Your Windows Network: From Perimeter to Data

by Jesper M. Johansson and Steve Riley

Server

Addison-Wesley Microsoft Technology Series (2005)

As the title should tell you, this is an unabashedly Windows-oriented book. It's no surprise, considering the authors are both employees of Microsoft. Jesper Johansson is the Senior schedule manager for safety Policy, and Steve Riley is the Senior schedule manager in the safety enterprise and Technology unit. Both authors are very knowledgeable, and partake in speaking engagements around the world on a regular basis.

Microsoft-centric view aside, I deal primarily with Windows-based networks, so I found this book to be very informative in my safety persisting education. The authors attempt to cover a great deal of ground, so by necessity, some areas are covered in more depth than others. The areas covered are divided into 6 parts: "Introduction and Fundamentals," "Policies, Procedures, and User Awareness," "Physical and Perimeter Security: The First Line of Defense," Protecting Your Network Inside the Perimeter," "Protecting Hosts," and "Protecting Applications."

The book is filled with practical, tasteless sense determination of security, both with respect to for real securing systems, and avoiding practices of "Security Theater." Each episode ends with a section entitled "What You Should Do Today," reinforcing the activity items suggested throughout the chapter. The book also includes a Cd containing a few helpful tools. These comprise a password generator, a Hosts file that blocks known spyware sites, and a script to revoke Sql Server collective permissions.

The writing style is at times humorous, and very down-to-earth. This book is needful both as a casual read, and a allembracing reference for securing networks. I very recommend it to whatever in the facts safety field, as well as whatever finding for a place to start educating themselves about network security.

Dedicated Servers, Virtual hidden Servers and Colocation - Applications in a Web 2.0 World

iPad Journalisim

Rupert Murdoch's daily launched this week, he has been at the forefront of trying to monetize journalism for a while.... Almost trying to shut the door after the horse has bolted. Yes he is the archetypal media magnet and maybe if he manages to take over sky broadcasting thoroughly he will have too much power in the media to push his own agenda. That said, he has been retention up the Sunday Times as a lossmaking enterprise for an very long time now simply because person has to furnish ability journalism at some point. Anyone you think of him he has kept an awful of people in work.

Server

Heavy Set up Costs

Murdoch stated, these "new times request new journalism." yearly subscriptions to The Daily will cost per year. In terms of cost of production, Murdoch said that the development of The Daily set News Corp. Back by million or so, but will only cost the media conglomerate 0,000 per week in doing costs.

Data centres and Dedicated servers

What has this will do with a dedicated server you may ask? Well I calculate person like Murdoch has rooms and rooms full of them that he owns himself... But you can't be sure these days the flexibility of furnish and request and paying for it when you need it does rule the roost.

New Model or old hat?

But legitimately this is an very pertinent conversation to be currently having, obviously the uptake of this new stock from Murdoch will be a slow gradient at first and will either crash out and disappear into the ether, or if it's liked by people and the buzz starts to move on it... Many more people will start by subscribing to it. Which of procedure would mean quite an ebb and flow in the request for it, and the request located on the data centres or the data mechanisms that he has in place.

Arguably this poses an very good consulation for cloud servers or off site dedicated servers simply because you're able to ramp up and down your bandwidth and your capacity to suit to user demand. Many small medium enterprises could do well to mimic in a small way what Mr Murdoch has thrown out there in quite a bold move. You know to say, the winners can laugh and the losers can make their own arrangements.

Doing More for Less With a Managed Services victualer

A Cost-Cutting Conversation Worth Having

In lean and mean times, small and midsize businesses often cut capital expenditures and discretionary operating expenses. Many fellowships defer hiring and limit their investments to those with short payback periods and a high return on investment. That is not surprising. These are natural reactions to economic uncertainty.

Server

Information technology (It) is positively not immune to budget cuts in a slow economy. In most small and midsize companies, It represents a big chunk of the operating budget-and a big occasion for cost cutting. In fact, the question is no longer, either It expenses can be trimmed. In a recessionary environment, the real questions are how much of a company's It budget is fat, how much is muscle, and how can you tell them apart?

For most companies, these questions have never been more important. The fact is that today, It plays a key role in the success or failure of a business. An organization's It infrastructure has come to be an critical component for doing company in a connected world where customer expectations and competing threats are growing continually.

Companies must therefore be particular not to make the wrong cuts in the wrong areas. For instance, if your network were to go down, how long would your company survive? How long could you afford to be without e-mail access? How would your company be affected if you couldn't send out orders or proposals for a few days? And what would be the impact of losing all your company data for the past five years?

Fortunately, there is plenty of room for cutting It costs without risking your company or your capability to serve customers. The hidden lies in knowing where the fat resides-and in knowing how to trim that excess without affecting the meat and bone needed to utter salutary company operations and found a competing advantage.

Based on our 17 years of perceive working with small and midsize fellowships on their It infrastructure, this report provides practical tips and objective recommendations to aid businesses in their cost-cutting endeavor while an economic downturn.

Where Do You Start?

There is no such thing as a foolproof template for It cost reduction. Every company has different company objectives, competing challenges, cost profiles, company models and It requirements. However, when embarking on a strategic cost-cutting journey, it is helpful to break down It into three main buckets:

Existing hardware and software Existing seller agreements Current It staff or outsourced It services provider

#1 -Maximize the Value of Your Hardware and Software

Hardware

As tempting as it may be to forgo new hardware purchases and software upgrades while lean times, in many cases it positively makes better economic sense to move send with a technology refresh-even in a recession. Because most hardware carries only a three-year warranty from the manufacturer, a procedure of if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Will often drive up a machine's total cost of ownership (Tco) to a level far higher than if the hardware was supplanted more frequently.

When considered planned and executed, a shorter hardware exchange cycle keeps maintenance and warranty costs at a minimum by letting the manufacturer bear the costs of retention your machines running. For instance, with a three-year warranty, your initial buy price (Ipp) on a laptop computer is your Tco. However, after three years, the warranty expires and your Tco starts to climb as the risk of aid outages increases and maintenance costs are no longer covered by the manufacturer. As a result, years four and five add incrementally much more to Tco than did the first three years.

Is your recently purchased equipment running slower than you would like? While waiting for your next technology exchange cycle, there are simple things you can do to help boost the efficiency of your current Pcs and servers. For instance, you should periodically:

Spring-clean hard drives Run maintenance tasks (e.g., defragment drives) Uninstall applications that are no longer used Run virus scans, even if you have anti-virus software

As insignificant as these tasks may seem, they can help boost the efficiency and speed of your machines dramatically. They can also keep you from having to buy new ones before your next scheduled refresh while boosting worker productivity and improving customer service.

Another area in which fellowships can often make critical improvement is law security. Something as simple as.locking down. (a simple measure that prohibits users from installing software or changing law settings) all Pcs and laptops prevents malicious software from being unintentionally installed in users' machines-software that can lead to virus outbreaks, security breaches and productivity drains. In fact, agreeing to the examiner firm Gartner, this security measure alone will reduce a company's total cost of ownership on a Pc or laptop by 42 to 45 percent.1

Software and Operating Systems

Just because the software manufactures is continually rolling out new upgrades doesn't mean you need to supervene their lead. Waiting at least six to 18 months before rolling out an operating law upgrade or an upgrade to an existing software box is a wise move. In many cases, not only are there often hidden training costs involved with a software upgrade, but there are carrying out issues to consider-from the standpoint of both your existing hardware and the instability inherent in most new software upon its release.

Security Software

When it comes to retention your network secure, the best explication for most fellowships is to outsource the function to a hosted security provider. For one, the threat of phishing attacks, viruses and data leaks is higher than ever, and new threats face daily. In fact, the company gateway security company get Computing recently reported that the number of spam messages doubled from 60 billion in 2006 to 120 billion by November 2007.2 This is a troubling pattern, because spam often carries viruses and trojans and takes up so much critical server space, which slows down the network. Someone else fancy to outsource this function: security software is only as good as its last patch or upgrade, and retention up with the multitude of software options and antidotes is too difficult, high-priced and time-consuming for most companies.

#2 -Maximize the Value of Existing seller Agreements

Leasing vs. Buying

A suitable estimate of existing seller contracts almost always turns up multiple opportunities to save costs without sacrificing quality. For instance, in most cases, leasing your computer hardware, copiers and software can translate into critical cash flow improvements.

The case for fellowships leasing their It in a down cheaper is compelling. First, today's technology has a very dinky shelf life. However, you don't have to dispell that depreciation in value. Leasing fellowships are contribution leasing rates as low as 6 percent and even bundle all the equipment's connected soft costs (e.g., premise services) into their contracts.

Instead of having to make a large capital investment every three years, leasing allows you to keep revolving your compact and to pay a small, fixed monthly fee. The impact on cash flow can be dramatic. For instance, a ,000 equipment exchange and software upgrade task can be leased for a monthly cost of nearby ,500-a much more manageable cost in a climate where cash flow is king.

Internet/Telco

Telecommunications costs are often one of the top five expenses for small and midsize companies. But what is truly disturbing is that even after the BellSouth and At&T merger, prices for bandwidth continue to collapse while telecommunications expenses for most businesses are flat or even growing. For one, agreeing to Gartner, fellowships typically waste 10 percent of telecom budgets on outdated services or errors. Moreover, many fellowships do not realize they can renegotiate their contracts. And those who do aren't sure how to go about it or how to find areas of savings opportunities.

Once you know where to look, the savings in this area are often substantial. In fact, we continually save fellowships more than ,000 per month, without sacrificing quality, just by renegotiating their Internet/telco contracts. If you are looking to do this on your own, always use one seller for both services. This alone usually lowers your total cost. Furthermore, just as with insurance, it pays to keep reevaluating your aid every year to make sure you are always getting the best deal possible.

#3 -Maximize the Value From Your It Staff or Outsourced Provider

In a recession, it becomes even more important that you focus on maximizing the efficiency of the person or group in fee of running and maintaining your It infrastructure-whether that personel is you, Someone else worker or an face provider.

Internal It Resource

If you currently employ an internal resource, it's worth asking: Is facts technology the only responsibility this personel has? If not, how much time and endeavor is this person investing to administrate and utter your It? If this worker didn't have peripheral responsibility for It, what other activities could he or she be working on that would add value to your company and your customers and help boost the bottom line? As a part time It person, does this personel have the expertise to deal with all your It needs adequately, or do you still need to bring in an face person on occasion?

If you are inspecting bringing on a dedicated It employee, how do you know when having such a resource is a luxury? In the metro Atlanta area, a full-time It staffer will positively command ,000 per month plus benefits. You also have to factor in the hidden costs of training to keep this individual's knowledge base current in a field that is enduringly evolving. How does that cost correlate to outsourcing this function? And what are the capability and service-level tradeoffs of the different outsourcing options?
Hourly Outsourced aid Provider

If you are paying an outsourced provider by the hour, the question becomes: How do you minimize this expense? And when do you know if (or when) you've gone too far in cost cutting? In other words, how do you optimize the value of your hourly contract? A.duct tape. Coming to It maintenance and repair- one where you avoid calling the hourly-rate aid provider every time you should-can lead to catastrophic equipment or software failure. The cost to recover from such an event can positively dwarf the cost of an extra aid call when there was still time to prevent the question altogether.

Managed aid provider (Msp)

In the past few years, a trend has emerged for small and midsize fellowships that want big-company services at small-company prices: the It managed aid provider (Msp). This model is not for everyone. However, in light of the current economic slowdown, a growing number of businesses are looking that this Coming makes better economic sense when cash flow, costs and risk exposure are all factored in. Most fixed-fee Msps offer a number of benefits that are even more relevant in a recessionary environment. They include:

1. capability to budget a predetermined each year number for It, which helps avoid budget spikes, spending surprises and last-minute breakdowns

2. Systematic deterrent maintenance of the entire It infrastructure and real-time monitoring for network instability or failures

3. Remote, large-company tools that allow immediate passage to your It network and problems, coupled with scheduled deterrent on-site maintenance by certified network engineers

4. Bulletproofing your network for company continuity and disaster recovery, and fully documenting your network.

Because it is less high-priced to do.fire prevention. Than it is to do.firefighting,. Msps custom deterrent maintenance. An Msp's cost buildings and cheaper of scale can also give your company an important competing advantage. Furthermore, because they fee a fixed monthly subscription fee, the burden of retention your It running efficiently falls on them. fellowships inspecting this model should make sure that the Msp can both work remotely and come on site. Just as important, they should focus their crusade on Msps that do not benefit financially when they suggest hardware or software purchases. That means they are not a vendor.

Scorecard Your carrying out Before development Big It Decisions To find the.fat. In your It budget and avoid cutting out meat and bone, a uncut and objective It estimate is essential-one that scorecards your It based on your unique company objectives. Especially in a recession, no company should make major It decisions without such a particular characterize of their technology infrastructure.

This report provides a beginning place for such an exercise. At a minimum, you should use the three major areas discussed in this document to conclude where your company stands and where the opportunities for low-risk cost cutting lie.

However, fellowships that are serious about weathering the current economic downturn without negatively impacting their critical It infrastructure would do well to engage an experienced third party to scorecard their It performance. The ideal It estimate should focus on scorecarding the following key areas:

It infrastructure Maintenance practices Security Applications Network security diagnostics Documentation of It assets for company continuity Alignment of It to the company's company objectives and strategic plan

The estimate should then lead to a technology roadmap that's tied to a budget. And this budget
should always take into inventory the current economic landscape and the company's goals and
objectives.

Many fellowships are surprised to find that, after conducting more than 500 It assessments for small and midsize fellowships over the last 17 years, 70 percent of Insol assessments do not point to purchasing supplementary hardware or software. Instead, the opportunities for strategic cost allowance and service-level improvements almost always come from trimming fat from It and using existing It assets more efficiently.

Firewall Basics on How to prevent Bad Guys From Entering Your Computer principles

Firewall basics are an primary aspect of Internet protection and enables ways to stop unauthorized passage to data, just like how one tries to stop spy ware. Firewall is known to filter out hackers, viruses and worms which thrive on the Internet. However, these can infect your ideas with malicious programs. Firewall prevents this from happening and restricts external services that come with unauthorized passage to your personal data.

Firewall Basics: How It Works

Server

Firewall basics are meant to safe your ideas from external threats as a firewall can be in whether form, as a hardware or software. It monitors and controls the flow of data between a computer and the Internet.

A firewall acts like a filter pertaining to data that is sent through the Internet. It permits only those files that a computer is authorized to share and restricts any external network that tries to passage your ideas without authorization.

If any incoming data packet is flagged by firewall filters, passage to the ideas itself is denied. A firewall can additional safe your ideas from external threats by hiding your Ip address. It would make it indiscernible over the network.

Firewall basics consist of separate methods to filter traffic. Check the following firewall basic methods:

Packet filtering: All incoming data packets are filtered for authorization. Those packets which pass through the filter are transmitted additional while the rest are denied entry.. Proxy Server: This protects the network by preventing external networks from establishing experience with the internal systems. All data from the Internet is received by the proxy server. Then, it is transmitted to the requesting system. Stateful inspection: This method comprises examining the data that comes via the Internet vis-à-vis an internal database of malicious programs.

Take the example of Windows, which is currently safeguarded with an inbuilt firewall system. You can kick off the firewall by entering the protection town choice in the operate Panel.

Firewall Basics for Your Security

Firewall basics are primary to comply with as unethical users continue to exploit ideas resources. A hacker can cause the following harm to your ideas or network:

Remote login: A distant user can associate to your network or ideas and exploit your resources. Applications/Operating ideas bugs: Some applications and operating systems allow for remote passage and may even have bugs that an experienced hacker can exploit.. E-mail bombs: through a single message that is sent about hundreds of times, a hacker continues till your email service becomes unable to accept anymore mails. Spam mails: Spam mails are a common backdoor entry into your ideas by hackers. Hackers send a single message to hundreds of email Ids yet the message source remains dubious. These spam mails are hazardous so avoid opportunity mails from strangers. Network hijack: A hacker prompts a remote server to associate to his ideas but when a server tries to link, the requesting Ip address cannot be located. This process is repeated several times till the server becomes slow or the network crashes.

Hackers can all the time find news ways to beat firewall basics. However, a firewall that comes with anti-virus and anti-spyware programs will contribute a solid shield to safeguard your resources.

Take A Vacation

One of the things that has struck with since living in the Us is the low level of vacation time that most people take. I know that most new jobs seldom offer more than 2 weeks paid vacation time unless you are in highly employable, highly desirable bracket, which to my mind is nothing short of ridiculous.

When life-coaching clients come to me with issues around stress supervision and getting their work life equilibrium right I regularly ask them when they last took a vacation. More often than not it takes some mental about and even if it is fairly recently is it often no more than a long weekend. If I then ask them when was the last time they took a two week break I regularly get looks that would recommend that I have asked the client f we could strip naked and dance round my driveway together retention hands and singing songs from 'The Sound Of Music' Trust me, I never do that, not in this heat anyway.

Server

You, and if you are an boss your employees, need to take time away from work. This isn't an elective extra it is a necessity for good mental condition and carport productivity. The body needs time to rest and to re-charge itself, otherwise you see a slow decline in operation that can even lead to complete personel collapse. That is why so many people flit from job to job and why the sell and sales industries have such a high churn of staff. Rather that supporting staff when operation dips, they fire them and move on. This is false economy, because now they have the added cost of hiring, training and bringing up to speed of a new employee that is statistically no more likely to consequent that the person they just let go because they were worn out. Associates are seldom inclined to spend in employees in terms of a good training, listening to their needs and offering perfect benefits packages. After all, it is costly and there are profits and stockholders to be considered!

The anomaly with this is that when people are given time off, when they are paid a wage commensurate with their value to the organization (rather than the minimum that the boss can get away with), when they have condition care benefits paid and when they are treated with respect and dignity they come to be happier and more loyal to the employer. Content employees that feel they are wanted (a major human requirement there by the way - to feel needed) are infinitely more useful to a company than miserable, run-down malcontents that are living from pay check to pay check.

If you work for somebody else, take your full budget of vacation and forget about the full e-mail inbox you will come back to, the world will carry on turning. If you are an boss force your staff to work sensible hours, switch off servers after 7.00pm at night, insist holidays are taken and that healing check ups are undertaken. It may mean you take a short-term financial hit but the long-term benefits are higher productivity, higher profits and a line of the best people in the business waiting to work for you. It's a no-brainer.

Designing Home and Sme Networks 11 - Getting the Inside Out

There are two main aspects to getting data from your network out onto the Internet:

Allowing your network users to send data out. Allowing Internet users to come and get your data themselves.

Server

1: Allowing your users to send data out.

This is a approved execution that most Internet users perform daily, such as sending emails, texting, tweeting, Instant messaging and posting to blogs and other data services. If you are going to allow it at all from your network, it can be difficult and costly to manage. Most small businesses naturally rely on the discretion of their users. This aspect will be covered in later postings covering security.

2: Allowing Internet users to come and get data.

Especially for businesses, it can be foremost to allow article that you originate or hold on your network out onto the Internet. There are two basic mechanisms to do this:

Export it from your network onto a host elsewhere on the Internet Store it on a server on your network

2.1: Internet hosting: Why would you let your data be held on person else's server(s)?

There are any very good reasons to put your data on an Internet hosting server and allow others to entrance it from there:

What you keep on the Internet is only a copy of the original and therefore, if it gets corrupted or deleted, you can reload it; You don't have to let anonymous Internet users into your network; The user's browser traffic does not use your Internet association bandwidth; You don't have to publicise your own Ip address to Internet users; You can use a dynamic Ip address for your Internet association (Unless your host servers need entrance to your network). If, like many large organisations, you pick to host your network services in a Data Centre, then you can contribute your own hosting for your Internet presence from that data centre. However, this then makes you field to some of the issues mentioned below under hosting your own Internet presence.

There are also any disadvantages to Internet Hosting:

It is difficult to keep your data current, although this is ordinarily sufficient for static content. If you have dynamic content, you need to contribute a channel to whether proactively update the data on the Internet servers or allow the Internet servers to entrance data held on your network in real time. It costs critical amounts of money.

Your ageement with the hosting organisation will decide who is responsible for what but, generally:

2.2: Remote entrance for Internet Users to data on your network

This is where you host your own Internet presence using devices on your own network. ordinarily speaking this is carefully to be a bad idea for small businesses. There are some advantages to doing it, however:

You are in perfect control of your data, and not field to the vagaries of a hosting company. You perform maximum currency for your data, as there are no Internet delays in the middle of your Internet-facing devices and the databases retention your dynamic content.

Against this are the disadvantages:

You need to spend critical amounts of money in securing your network by providing: Separate servers for Internet-accessible services Multiple layers of firewalls and a Dmz to detach Internet traffic from internal network traffic and prevent Internet users accessing your network Proxy services to ensure that any data that is served from within your network to the Internet-facing servers is fully secured. All traffic in the middle of the Internet and your Internet-facing servers traverses your Internet entrance link. This may impact the assistance level ready to your internal network users. You will roughly honestly need some sort of fascinating traffic administration to prevent any peaks in your Internet user traffic (or Denial or assistance attacks) from fully isolating your network from the Internet. You have to make the Ip address of your Internet association public, and it has to be static. Your Internet-facing servers and other devices need to remain switched on at all times.

Generally, these disadvantages make self-hosting of your Internet presence a poor option for most individuals and small businesses.

starting a Web Hosting enterprise - The Dos and Don'ts

Hello,

I decided to write a record after seeing a post on well known forum. The post read:

Server

Hello
If you decide to work with me I am quite flexible on the money split as long as its not a slow-witted split. I'm happy to do 50/50, 40/40/20(bills) etc.

This was from a user who was seeing to start a hosting company. He/she owned a domain name & had purchased a "unlimited reseller hosting account" from an additional one small company. I refuse to mention any names here. However, this person's partnership was only requesting someone to cover the costs of the Whmcs license. I mean, If I was a kid trying to make a quick buck, this would seem like the excellent opportunity. Spend a month, spend about 5 hours a day and advertise in any place I could, it would right on get some sales and probably make me a whole 25 bucks a month, for the next two months, until such time as either;

- You spend all your income on stuff you don't need and cannot afford to renew your service.

- You offer packages you plainly cannot afford to offer (unlimited bw/unlimited space... It's just not possible) & you get an excess bandwidth bill that you plainly cannot afford to pay.

- You get bored and decide to take your money and run.

These are the main 3 reasons we see hosting fellowships disappear, and again are the main 3 reasons why on a day to day basis I see hundreds, if not thousands of potentially good customers visit small but expert hosting fellowships and avoid them because of their experiences with other small companies.

If you Want to start a hosting company, Do it right!

Hosting isn't a get rich quick scheme, and if you are only allocating 20% of your income to bills you won't grow, you will most likely fail. The first year+ all your behalf should be put back into the company to improve + offer better/greater services & products. Not marketing, avoid paying for marketing at all costs, because it doesn't matter how many population you get to your site, 99% of inherent customers will not even search for using your company if you have no reviews.

Your first year of being a new Hosting company should consist of the following;

- Discounts/Startup Offers: Offer great discounts to new users, There are a range of great forums/Websites which you can post all your offers.

- Offer your Services Locally: Ask friends/Family if they have ever opinion about beginning a website, let them know you have the services and skills to help them, you will be surprised at how many of your friends and house have opinion about it, but never well sat down to form it out, offer them extra discounts, one month free, 50% off. This may seem like a bad idea at the time, any way after the first month they may realise that it would be worth the small cost complicated and have no problems with paying for it.

- company Reviews: create a well designed email template Welcoming your new clients to your company. Ask if they have enjoyed their first month with your company and ask if they have any suggestions as to ways you could improve your company/level of service. Also Offer a discount off their next month of service if they are willing to write a present of your service on one of the major web hosting present websites (this is going to bring relieve and assurance to your future clients, so it is well worth the merge of dollars you lose in contribution discounts).

- Do Not Spend your income: Every Cent you make from selling services should be left in your bank/PayPal account. This way when your reparation for your domain/Service/Billing software license, anything it may be comes around, you will always have the money there to pay for it. No you will not make a profit, but that is not the introductory point of beginning a hosting company. It's a Long Term vocation goal.

- Research: Do a lot of it, find out what population want, find out what the latest and most services are and If You Can Afford To, bring them on-board, offer these new services and compete with the big fellowships for the possession to be crowned "king of" anything the new service may be.

Note: I said "If You Can Afford To" in capitals. This is a big factor in any decision. Forking out money you plainly do not have, or cannot by comparison spending is a great way to send your company into instant debt/failure. Having all the latest and most services won't necessarily make your company any good then the big hosts, you could behalf just as much contribution shared/reseller web hosting as an additional one tom could contribution everything the Internet has to offer. Providing you have the knowledge and you are willing to offer top ability retain to your clients. Your client-base will steadily grow, as will your net profits.

- At the end of your first year (no I do not mean December, I mean 1 year since you started your company) you should observation that your client-base has grown so has your bank balance. This is a good thing. Look into how much money your company has made over the last year, if it is a steady income that's excellent news, now I suggest you look into marketing opportunities.

What Not to do in the first year;

- Paid Marketing: Marketing is a big key to getting more clients. A lot of population believe that paying for marketing right away is a good idea, I would suggest you don't, as your company has no rep, your company is likely to waste every cent of it's advertising funds and make nothing back off it. Waiting a year before beginning to funds for marketing Is the best hint anything could ever make. With your company now having some reviews colse to and beginning to make a name for itself marketing is now right on what you are seeing for to growth your client-base.

- Spend your profits: I guess this can be ignored, providing you read the part above relating to "Do Not Spend your income". any way If you missed that, I shall tell you again... Do Not Spend Your Income. This is the only thing that will keep your company alive, so leave it in the bank!

- Offer more then you can well offer: Again, everything I am saying here is based on what I have seen happen the past few years in the hosting industry, I see too often new fellowships contribution "unlimited/Unmetered" packages, because they believe that someone is more inclined to buy something "unlimited" then something with limits. Again... You're mistaken.

The terms Unlimited & Unmetered ordinarily mean one of the following;

This company oversells it's servers and hopes that no clients will realise.
Or
This company is so new that it hasn't grasped the actual cost of bandwidth.

Upon saying that, I am not saying that All hosts which offer "unlimited/unmetered" solutions fit into the above two categories, just that the majority do.

- Make unneeded purchases: easy fact, if you do not need it, why buy it, this counts for Servers/Licenses/All web based services, if there isn't a desperate need for it "Right Now" then do not buy it, I'm not saying you offer services like Virtual incommunicable Servers, wait for someone to buy one then rush off and buy a dedicated server to set them up on. That is just not expert and your clients will soon start to leave.

What I mean is, If you have a dedicated server, and your are 3/4 full with Virtual Servers, but you only sell one Vps Every 3 months. There is no rush to go out and buy an additional one server right now and get it configured for new clients, and let it sit there for 8 months before it is used, that money could be put to alot of good uses.

Providing you pay attentiveness to your company, ensue the trends of client sign-ups and client cancellations, you should be able to work out when the best time to buy added services to handle your company growth without interruption.

The bistro Chronicles, Part 1

Have you ever heard that saying, "The show must go on"? When you hear it, you think of what is generally referred to as "Show-biz," don't you? But where can you go to see the best acting money can buy, any day of the week? No, I'm not talking about the theatre or Tv. I'm talking about the "Restaurant-biz." Servers, bartenders, hostesses, and restaurateurs act on a daily business. Their execution is crucial! Every movement, every word, every bite is an integral part of the restaurant-goers experience, and any one of these parts, if it isn't just right, could lead to the restaurant-goer, well, going.

Many a bistro owner has held their breath as they flipped to the local bistro critic's (probably some pompous, pretentious old windbag), page to see what he or she has to say about their establishment. This write-up has the power to make or break a restaurant, especially a secretly owned one. Unfortunately the only critiques a server gets to give are given behind a kitchen door, in a server station, or over a beer (or several) at the end of a shift. Well, the bistro critic has held the pen too long! The time has come for the server to speak up and critique the buyer for a change!

Server

I, as a previous member of the exclusive club known as the bistro Industry, am about to exertion a categorization of several distinct types of patrons. This will be the first installment of a series I like to call, "The bistro Chronicles." In this, Part 1, I will begin a labeling process which will hopefully serve as both comic relief for others in our suited field, and also to illuminate those who may unknowingly belong to one (or more) of the following groups. Let's see, where should we begin?

The Chatty-Cathy: This breed of buyer is more curious in gabbing and/or gossiping with friends or colleagues than ordering or eating food. She or he is content to have the server stand and wait while finishing the conversation. This buyer will ignore the server every time they come back and ask either a refill or some other aid is needed. If the server has to repeatedly ask the question, this buyer will often flash a dirty look or make a snide comment.

The Cell Phone Addict: This lonely soul cannot seem to put their cell phone down long enough to even order. They insist on pointing to items on the menu and requiring their server to guess at their order instead of plainly putting their phone down and speaking.

The Sally: If you've seen the movie When Harry met Sally, you have seen a frighteningly realistic example of the high-maintenance guest. This person says thing like, "I'll have this roast turkey sandwich, except can I get it with mustard instead of mayonnaise? indubitably can I have a little bit of both on the side, and, uh, no tomatoes? Do you have rye bread? Could you have them toast it? And could I have a mixed green salad instead of the pasta salad, but with ranch...I don't like that vinaigrette you guys use. Do you think I could get a coke instead of this tea? It tastes funny." Although they speak in sentences that sound like questions, an experienced server recognizes them for what they truly are, demands.

The Dummy: This simple beast somehow manages to find their way to the restaurant, although it's hard to imagine how. They come in straight through a door directly below a giant neon sign, flashing the word "Open," and ask, with a blank look on their face, "Are you guys open?" The menu may have the word, in huge letters, breakfast on the cover, and they will ask, "Are you guys serving breakfast?" This client teaches their server the art of patience, because it is nearly impossible not to reply sarcastically to such moronic questions.

The Merry Mommy Club: This group of lovely ladies and their lovely children is always a treat, if your idea of a treat is hurdling small children, while at the same time, maneuvering large heavy trays of hot food and liquids without losing your balance, as they run under your feet. This species of diner loves to sit for hours and hours chatting, as they consume only small side dishes of food and sip away gallons of decaffeinated coffee, or every server's favorite, hot tea! They squeak in babynese, and compete in the "My baby can do this..." game. They also are notorious for their lack of observational skills, as their older children compete in creating a virtual "Obstacle Course" for servers and other guests by climbing on top of tables, running behind the counter, and other various activities.

Well, that concludes Part 1 of the bistro Chronicles, but fear not, my fantastic readers! I plan to continue my exploration of this intriguing creature, known as the diner, in Part 2. So please come back and learn more about this interesting, exciting, and often times, just plain weird business, we bistro folk affectionately refer to as, well...our job.
